History of the H247

The H247 GLC Coupe represents Mercedes-Benz's interpretation of the luxury coupe-SUV segment that gained prominence in the 2010s.

Introduced in 2016 alongside the conventional GLC, the Coupe variant leveraged the same technical platform while incorporating distinctive design elements including a sloping roofline, sculpted body panels, and a more aggressive front end. This differentiation strategy proved effective in capturing buyers seeking distinctive styling within the premium compact SUV category.

The AMG division created high-performance versions, notably the AMG GLC 63 Coupe with a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing up to 510 horsepower. These performance variants established benchmark performance credentials in the competitive luxury performance SUV market.

A comprehensive facelift in 2023 introduced refreshed styling, updated interior technology including MBUX 2.0 infotainment systems, and enhanced efficiency measures. Production continues with strong market demand across Europe, Asia, and North America.
